“Design is not just what it looks and feels like. Design is how it works.” (Steve Jobs). Luxury cars are not only beautiful to look at, but they also provide a driving experience that is exhilarating and soothing. As such, the global luxury car market was valued at $617.36 billion in 2022 and is expected to enjoy an almost 7% CAGR until 2030. Some 138 years of automotive evolution has led to the creation of increasingly exciting cars, which perform uniquely and boast innovative designs. However, many enthusiasts argue that two brands have always stood out in the sector: Porsche and Rolls-Royce. Below are two of their latest top-performing models.
Porsche 911 992.2
After 60 years of development, the Porsche 911, considered in many ultimate luxury sports car lists as one of the most excellent sports cars of all time, has evolved once more with its new generation: the 992.2. Despite being named as a mere facelift of its predecessor, the 992.1, the new 911, comes with major advancements, the most significant of which is introducing a hybrid power unit in all GTS models. Combined with the 3.6-liter engine, the 911 GTS produces 533 horsepower and 610 Newton-metres of torque while weighing just 1,595 kilograms. The electric engine also comes with a regenerative motor, inspired by that of Porsche’s Le-Mans winning 919, which recharges the battery when braking. Meanwhile, rear wheel steering and active suspension are available for GTS models, making daily driving more effortless as well as increasing stability at high speeds.
Exciting Details – Various driving assists have been added to the Porsche 911 992.2, such as park assist, reverse camera, lane keep assist, cruise control, ABS, and Traction Control to keep drivers relaxed and focused on the road. Optional features such as the hydraulic lift system, which helps avoid scraping the car, create an even more pleasurable driving experience. The Porsche 992.2 also features vast customization options, from exterior design kits to interior leather colours and materials. Porsche’s Paint to Sample Plus (PTS Plus) program allows customers to choose their paint colour and finish.
Rolls-Royce Spectre: doing its share for the planet – When thinking of luxury brands, one British brand in particular comes to mind first: Rolls-Royce, known for delivering nothing but absolute comfort and quality since 1904. Due to Europe’s imminent environmental regulations (which will strive for zero carbon emissions from cars and vans by 2035), Rolls-Royce has decided to begin its eco-friendly journey early. The Rolls-Royce Spectre is the brand’s first electric vehicle, promising an even more excellent driving experience than its predecessors. The car has two electric motors with a combined output of over 570 horsepower and 900 Newton-Metres of torque.
Sustainability and Power – Despite being so powerful, the Rolls-Royce Spectre still manages to get almost 300 miles of range per charge. As for the interior, Rolls-Royce has chosen to combine its timeless design philosophy with modern upgrades such as digital infotainment screens with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, digital gauges, and either Harman Kardon or Bowers & Wilkins Diamond surround sound systems. The Spectre also comes standard with a vast array of safety features. Just a few of these include an anti-lock brake system (ABS), electronic stability control (ESC), Lane-Keep assist, automatic emergency brake, and automatic emergency steering.
Luxury cars are designed to look beautiful and feel powerful and comfortable. The Rolls-Royce Spectre’s electric power unit creates an even more silent and peaceful ambience while delivering immense power when needed. Porsche’s 911 992.2 continues what made its predecessors great, featuring even more outstanding performance while allowing drivers to fine-tune the car’s appearance and handling.
