A celestial union in Lapland: where space dreams meet norse mythology

In the far reaches of Finnish Lapland, where silence is broken only by the whisper of Arctic winds and the sky stretches endlessly above snow-covered forests, Cheyenne and Edward chose to celebrate their wedding in a setting that felt almost otherworldly. Beneath the vast Arctic night, surrounded by untouched wilderness, their union unfolded like a modern myth, a story suspended somewhere between science fiction and ancient Nordic legend.

Managed by Diana Da Ros, international wedding & event planner, the celebration was the result of an extraordinary five-year creative journey. From the beginning, the vision was clear: to merge two seemingly distant passions into a single immersive narrative.

Cheyenne, an aerospace engineer with a lifelong fascination for the mysteries of the universe, has always looked toward the stars. Edward, by contrast, draws inspiration from Viking culture and its powerful symbolism rooted in myth, ritual, and heritage. Through Diana’s creative direction, these two worlds, cosmic exploration and Nordic mythology, merged seamlessly into a wedding concept unlike anything seen before. The stage for this visionary celebration was the iconic Kakslauttanen Arctic Resort, and more specifically, its striking Igloo Tower at Kakslauttanen. Rising from the Arctic landscape like a futuristic observatory, the glass tower appears almost like a spacecraft that has gently landed in the middle of a frozen forest. Wrapped in a dramatic artistic installation that seemed to climb its exterior as though nature itself were reclaiming the structure, the venue embodied the perfect dialogue between past and future, technology and myth.

A bride from the cosmos – For her bridal look, Cheyenne envisioned something extraordinary: a gown that would evoke a luminous being arriving from another world. The concept was brought to life by couturier Simone Marulli, who created a bespoke couture dress embedded with micro-LED lights woven directly into the fabric. As the bride appeared beneath the Arctic sky, the gown emitted a soft, ethereal glow, transforming her entrance into a cinematic moment, as if a celestial figure had stepped gently onto the snowy landscape. Marulli also designed Edward’s attire, translating Viking aesthetics into contemporary couture. His long coat featured a striking dégradé of handcrafted coins engraved with Nordic symbols, while intricate gold embroidery enriched the trousers, echoing the same mythological language. Adding yet another futuristic detail, Cheyenne designed her own headpiece: an elf-inspired glow-in-the-dark helmet conceived as a sculptural object where engineering meets imagination. This personal creation perfectly reflected her dual identity as both scientist and dreamer.

A ceremony inspired by Viking rituals – The ceremony itself carried a powerful symbolic dimension. Diana Da Ros not only curated the entire event but also officiated the ritual, writing a ceremony inspired by ancient Viking traditions. Among its most evocative moments was the exchange of axes, a gesture symbolising strength, protection, and unity. Another highlight was the flame ritual, during which guests held small flame-shaped lights that glowed beneath ultraviolet illumination, creating a mesmerising choreography of light beneath the Arctic night. For the occasion, Da Ros wore a gown by Simone Marulli inspired by the fantastical universe of The Lord of the Rings, paired with a striking high-jewellery necklace by Chantecler.

The bride also wore delicate earrings from the maison, completing her ethereal look with understated elegance. One of the most enchanting moments of the day unfolded during the couple’s first look deep in the forest. In a scene worthy of a Nordic saga, the bride arrived on a sleigh pulled by a magnificent white reindeer, gliding silently through the snow-covered trees. Her beauty look, crafted by celebrity make-up artist Stefania Tranchino, featured glow-in-the-dark elements that echoed the futuristic aesthetic of the celebration. The sculptural hairstyle, created by celebrity hairstylist Carmelo Spina, added further drama to the look.

A Table Inspired by the Nordic Forest – Floral designer Tomas De Bruyne created the event’s extraordinary botanical installations. One of the most striking was a floating floral portal where luminescent flowers appeared suspended in mid-air, creating an atmosphere poised between enchantment and nature. The dinner was served around a grand imperial table inspired by the raw beauty of the Nordic landscape. Branches intertwined along the table’s length as though a forest were organically growing through the setting, while candles and warm-toned floral arrangements cast a soft, golden glow across the snow-lit evening. The celebration concluded with a truly cosmic finale: a rotating wedding cake installation designed by the bride herself. The structure featured cakes representing the planets of the solar system, an imaginative tribute to Cheyenne’s passion for space. The creation was realised by celebrated cake designer Enrique Rojas, who travelled from Birmingham to bring the vision to life. Fifteen guests attended the intimate celebration, travelling from Jamaica, the bride’s homeland, and from the United Kingdom, where the groom is from. The magical atmosphere of the day was captured by photographer Pasquale Cuorvo, whose images reveal the emotional depth of the celebration, and filmmaker Enzo De Marino, who transformed the experience into a cinematic wedding film. Far removed from fleeting trends, Cheyenne and Edward’s wedding was guided by one simple principle: authenticity.

A journey between stars and Norse mythology.
A creative vision five years in the making.
A celebration that felt less like an event and more like a legend written beneath the Arctic sky. Emotions, forever.
