Gaetano Cavalieri appointed Honorary Member of ASSOGEMME

Assogemme has a new honorary member: Mr. Gaetano Cavalieri, President of CIBJO, the World Jewellery Confederation www.cibjo.org .

CIBJO represents the interests of all individuals, organizations and companies earning their livelihoods from jewelry, gemstones and precious metals, covering the entire industry from mine to marketplace in the various production, manufacturing, trading and retail centers.

Mr. Gaetano Cavalieri has been serving as the CIBJO President since 2001, demonstrating unwavering passion and energy. With decades of experience, he stands as one of the prominent figures in the jewelry industry. A true gentleman, his appointment will undoubtedly bring great added value to Assogemme. In addition to being the president of CIBJO, Mr. Cavalieri has an extensive background in the jewelry industry. He served as the President of the Italian Federation of Gold, Silver, and Jewelry Wholesalers and was a member of the International Executive Council of the Gemological Institute of America (GIA). Furthermore, he is a member of the Goldsmiths’ Company of London, the European Assay Association, and the International Colored Gemstone Association (ICA). Additionally, he held the position of Chief Financial Officer of the World Diamond Council.

Paolo Cesari, President of Assogemme declared: “This honorary appointment underlines the extraordinary commitment that Mr. Cavalieri dedicates to the entire sector, with a particular emphasis on the goldsmith and precious stones industry. The collaboration with CIBJO aims to support the work carried out by the steering committees for gemological materials, both for nomenclature classification and for marketing.”

Assogemme is the Italian organization representing companies in the jewelry sector, including major players in the field of colored gemstones, precious and semi-precious stones, diamonds and corals. It currently has over 130 members. The Association promotes and supports educational programs related to corporate social responsibility (CSR) and sustainability within the jewelry, precious metals and gemstones supply chain. It also collaborates with multi-stakeholder initiatives on responsible sourcing and due diligence in the supply chain.

Assogemme is a partner of CIBJO and collaborates with the Italian Gemological Institute (IGI) in Milan, which has been operating for over forty years, training some of the most reputable figures in the jewelry industry.

It also partners with the “Fondazione Mani Intelligenti” in Valenza, which focuses on researching and training new generations of master goldsmiths.

Assogemme organized many talks and seminars to support gemological culture and Italian craftsmanship in the jewelry industry, emphasizing the need to connect gems and ethics and to adopt socially responsible practices regarding the extraction of stones.
