Revuelto… The New Lamborghini Dream

The 1015 hp maximum power of its 12-cylinder engine combined with the three electric motors achieving 0-100 km/h in 2.5s would be enough to tell the story of the Revuelto, but Lamborghini’s history has always been made up of innovation, tradition and a pinch of madness.

Back in 1963, the dream of building cars prompted Ferruccio Lamborghini to seek out the best technicians capable of designing and building his sports cars, which had to be emotionally badass and today, exactly sixty years later, they continue to do so in Sant’Agata Bolognese.

The long tradition of Lamborghinis with longitudinal rear engines was inaugurated in 1971 by the Countach, a UFO that looked like something out of a science fiction film. We find its architecture in an evolved key on the Revuelto, together with the iconic scissor doors.

The design is the work of the style centre led by Mitja Borkert and is developed around the mechanics, with an almost motorcycle-like feel. The engine is on view characterising the rear view of the whole; the huge central exhausts between the headlights are reminiscent of those of a jet.

The graphics of the headlamps and lights are rotated Ys. Clear lines and polished volumes have air intakes and volumetric passages functional to aerodynamics and as per tradition, the continuous line design joins the bonnet to the tail. A styling feature made possible by the mechanical layout. The balance of volumes makes the car very compact, although its dimensions have grown compared to the Aventador.

Unprecedented is the styling language of the interior, designed to give the driver total control. The settings are entrusted to the four physical rotors on the steering wheel, reminiscent of racing cars. Various configurations are possible, including launch control.

Access is easy and the cockpit offers more space even when wearing a helmet. The passenger has a dedicated screen that can dialogue with the other two in the car, all with a swipe function. Even if they are far away, thanks to Lamborghini’s dedicated app, they can keep the car status and any unauthorised use of the Revuelto under control. The chassis is made entirely of carbon fibre with 25% more torsional rigidity and a weight saving of 10% compared to the Aventador.

At Lamborghini, they call it HPEV (High-Performance Electrified Vehicle) thanks to the hybrid combination of the new, lightweight, naturally aspirated 6.5L V12 and the three electric motors, two of which are at the front wheels providing permanent all-wheel drive. At the same time, the third is positioned at the rear. The eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox is positioned behind the engine with electric reverse to reduce weight.

In the central tunnel are the 3.8 kWh batteries that can provide full-electric travel of up to 10 km. Revuelto can be driven at a maximum speed of 350 km/h. Colour combinations are numerous, but for the most demanding customers, there is the ‘Ad Personam’ programme where the car can be customised to suit every wish.

After all, in Sant’Agata Bolognese, they know how to make dreams come true. They have been doing it since 1963.
