On the occasion of International Women’s Day, Monica Cecchini launched a traveling exhibition of contemporary jewelry that seamlessly merges art, design, and social commitment, with a primary goal of raising awareness about violence against women and all individuals. Curated by Monica Cecchini for Incinque Jewels and Roma Jewelry Week, in collaboration with artist Elina Chauvet, the event unites designers, artists, students, and master goldsmiths to convey a powerful message of freedom and respect. Elina Chauvet, internationally renowned for her installations combating gender-based violence, has conceived a symbolic jewel in the struggle against violence towards women. The project, interpreted by Paolo Mangano of Incinque Jewels in collaboration with Alessia Crivelli, features a mandala ring adorned with pairs of red shoes—an emblem of global resistance and a tribute to victims. Pearls, symbolizing purity and resilience, complement the mandala, embodying an energetic purification that converts violence into positive energy for transformation and awareness.
Each resident of Incinque Jewels has realized a jewel dedicated to the theme, creating a unique and meaningful collection.
Myriam Bottazzi, with the pendant “The Relic,” encapsulates a red rose in a black veil of organza, symbolizing betrayed love and a sign of violence.

Elena Donati, with the blooming rose, symbolizes rebirth and hope, while Dettaglidattimi creates a bracelet with a closed fist, symbolizing solidarity and strength in women’s cries for help.

Inspired by Louise Bourgeois, Chiara Fenicia blends delicacy and violence in a ring symbolizing a transition from grace to brutal strength, evoking themes of transformation and revenge.

The exhibition will visit the Valenza Jewelry Week on May 15, 2025, and culminate in October during the Roma Jewelry Week (RJW), focused on contemporary jewelry. A significant initiative involves inviting students from schools to design symbolic jewelry in support of the campaign against violence towards women. The most outstanding projects will be showcased during RJW. To make the project even more special, the participation of the renowned international jewelry designer Alessio Boschi stands out, who will create a themed jewel. The design will be showcased at the Incinque Open Art gallery.
Boschi’s piece, created in collaboration with Maestro Marcello Hubert Seregni and modeler/waxer Laura Agnello Modica, is titled “Nike Liberata.” The creations of Elina Chauvet and Alessio Boschi will be auctioned, and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to a volunteer association that supports victims of violence and promotes the fight against this dramatic phenomenon.
Monica Cecchini declared, “For the fifth edition of RJW, I wanted to enhance the format with other important projects, such as Jewels for Freedom, which harnesses the creativity and art of jewelry to convey strong and meaningful messages. Jewelry becomes a tool for social engagement, denunciation, and raising awareness on a very dramatic issue: violence against women and gender-based violence. The intention is to create a wearable work of art that can inspire and remind people of the importance of respect and equality.

In addition to the artists and jewelry designers of Incinque Open Art Monti, the project also involves Mexican activist artist Elina Chauvet, renowned for her work “Zapatos Rojos” (Red Shoes), a global symbol in the fight against femicide; and Alessio Boschi, a world-famous jewelry designer known for his narrative and symbolic creations. Their jewelry will be auctioned to support an organization dedicated to this cause. Students from schools will also be involved through a contest to raise awareness among the younger generations and bridge the gap between youth and industry professionals. It’s a formative, creative, and social experience where art and design become powerful tools for promoting cultural change. We are happy to contribute to creating an opportunity for reflection on such a dramatic and complex issue with this event. Furthermore, this year, RJW is opening its doors to a new design contest dedicated to artistic watches, thanks to the collaboration with Marco Fabio Verdastro. “
