3rd International Gems & Jewelry Trends Conference of China: a successful edition

Celebre Magazine Group was honored to be invited as a press representative to the 3rd International Gems & Jewelry Trends of China. In attendance were Massimo Basile, the editor & founder, and Laura Astrologo Porché , the Watches & Jewels editor-in-chief.

From March 7th to 9th, 2024, the “3rd International Gems & Jewelry Trends of China” took place in Panyu District, Guangzhou. Organized by the People’s Government of Panyu District, Guangzhou City, along with GAC and NGTC and featured in China Gems magazine, the event aimed to bolster innovation in the jewelry sector and promote its high-quality development. The conference included a a glamorous red-carpet ceremony, a high-end jewelry art exhibition, talks by international jewelry experts, performances by jewelry supermodels, industry tours and promotional campaigns, all highlighting the jewelry and jade industry’s dynamic expansion. The event kicked off on the evening of March 7, 2024, at the Chimelong International Convention Center in Panyu, Guangzhou, marked by a red-carpet opening ceremony.

The “3rd International Gems & Jewelry Trends of China” is a significant milestone in the international jewelry calendar that enhances cooperation between China and Europe. It serves as an essential platform for unveiling the latest industry trends and facilitating business exchanges, paving the way for stronger connections between China and Europe in the jewelry industry.

Ye Zhibin, President of GAC (Jewelry Trade Association of China), inaugurated the event, followed by  Bi Lijun, Vice President and Secretary-General of GAC.

Bi Lijun underscored a commitment to superior development and the advancement of a modernization that aligns with Chinese characteristics. He emphasized the critical role of the jewelry industry. He urged industry members to aim for high-quality growth, implement supply-side structural reforms, and boost the global standing and competitiveness of China’s jewelry sector.

Huang Biao, Secretary of the Panyu District Committee in Guangzhou, highlighted Panyu’s focus on “intelligent manufacturing and intellectual core” as a primary driver of economic progress and industrial competitiveness. The district is actively cultivating new growth drivers in cooperation with domestic and international partners.

Suttipong Damrongsakul, President of the Thai Gem and Jewelry Traders Association, discussed the solid collaboration with the Chinese jewelry industry, expressing ongoing support to GAC for forging a robust partnership and fostering exchanges and cooperation.

International jewelry consultant Corentin Quideau was honored to participate in such a global gathering, highlighting the conference’s role in connecting jewelry professionals from China and France.

Vivienne Becker, a renowned jewelry historian, observed the significant trend of the fusion of Eastern and Western styles and craftsmanship and expressed interest in the innovative dynamics within the Chinese jewelry industry.

Similarly, Amanda Triossi highlighted the conference as an excellent opportunity to engage with professionals and enthusiasts worldwide, allowing her to explore and understand the creative aspects of Asian jewelry more deeply.

During the opening ceremony, jewelry brands and designers such as Lao Fengxiang, TSL, Edison’s Pearl, FULI GEMSTONES, APM and designer Xu Lanlan presented their latest products.

On the afternoon of March 8th, industry experts shared their experiences in promoting and advertising jewelry brands.

Notable speakers included  Mariana Serban, Brand Consultant for LVMH Group, Graf and Cartier, Laura Astrologo Porché, editor-in-chief of the Watches & Jewels column at Celebre Magazine Group with contributions to Forbes Italy, Rapaport, Orafo Italiano and Robb Report Italy; Massimo Basile, Editor & Founder of MB Media Group (Switzerland); Pablo Pérez Rodriguez, co-founder of Grupo Duplex;  Tracey Ellison, a well-known jewelry influencer, Tetiana Pfaifer, a renowned jewelry blogger,  Katerina Perez, an international key-player in the jewelry industry, known for her insightful contributions and Renu Choudhary, a consultant and designer in gemstones and jewelry.

The closing ceremony on the evening of March 9, 2024, marked the successful conclusion of the 3rd International Gems & Jewelry Trends of China at the Chimelong International Convention Center in Panyu District, Guangzhou.

The ceremony featured speeches from several distinguished participants, including Liang Zhenjie, Chairman of the Supervisory Committee of GAC and General Manager of NGTC; Xu Yong, Director of the Standing Committee of the Panyu District People’s Congress and leader of the district’s fashion industry chain, and Wallis Hong, a renowned Chinese jewelry designer and overseas consultant for the conference.

Liang Zhenjie highlighted the conference’s role in allowing global audiences to appreciate the growth trajectory of China’s high-quality jewelry development. He underscored the event’s maturity as an international platform for unveiling new jewelry, forecasting industry trends, and facilitating exchanges among industry experts.

Xu Yong spoke about the event’s vibrant and dynamic atmosphere, which perfectly met expectations. He expressed his commitment to the continued development of the jewelry industry, aiming to bolster Panyu’s reputation as a global center for smart jewelry manufacturing. Additionally, Xu Yong emphasized Panyu’s strategy to leverage its industrial strengths by integrating various sectors to create a billion-dollar fashion industry cluster, propelled by digital and green technologies.

Wallis Hong, renowned Chinese jewelry artist, guest Representative, Overseas Consultant, and Committee Member of this Conference, shared insights on the conference’s ability to transcend cultural boundaries, effectively bridging Eastern and Western jewelry traditions and introducing prominent Chinese brands to the global stage.

The ceremony showcased new designs from Mengjinyuan Jewelry and recognized emerging designers. It also featured a high-end jewelry art exhibition displaying 258 exquisite pieces and drawing nearly a thousand visitors.

On March 8th and 9th, in-depth research activities took place, with over 300 representatives from the jewelry industry visiting Panyu’s jewelry enterprises. This initiative aimed to foster understanding, exchange, and cooperation, highlighting Panyu’s role in promoting high-quality industrial development. The guest delegation, consisting of industry professionals, visited and inspected several key sites, including the Shawan Jewelry Industrial Park, Shawan Precious Gem Town Exhibition Hall, Guangzhou TERASTAR, Jinjunhui International Jewelry Trading Center, Henry Jewelry (Guangzhou, Imperial Family Jewelry, Enamel Family and Chenghao Jewelry (Guangzhou).

The event not only captured the industry’s attention but also generated widespread acclaim and discussion, with its live broadcast reaching 58 million views. Since its inception in 2021, the conference has rapidly become a global focal point for the jewelry industry, showcasing cutting-edge design and high-quality craftsmanship. This year’s fair continued that tradition, reinforcing the conference’s pivotal role in the global jewelry sector. Thank you very much for this amazing invitation.
