Maison Valentino, Show Must Go On… Between Paris and Rome

Maison Valentino Show Must Go On… Between Paris and Rome Valentino is not only digital and not only in live streaming…!

I was so happy when I heard that Maison Valentino announces that it will present the haute couture collection with a special show, by creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli and photographer Nick Knight, divided into two moments: 8 July for the digital Haute Couture week in Paris, and 21 July in Rome with a live show.

The first in Paris, on July 8, on the occasion of the high fashion week this year in digital version. I am so excited because the Italian fashion house will take part in the first digital couture fashion week, where it will unveil its inspiration for the new collection to watchers online. But there is another great new: Valentino will then also host a physical show on 21 July, which will feature a live performance at Cinecittà Studios in Rome, which fashion editors based in Italy will attend – and who will stick to social-distancing measures.

Valentino, therefore, keeps the appointment with the Federation de la Haute Couture et de la Mode by unveiling a preview in the French capital of the inspiration that guided the actual fashion show. The real physical one will take place on the 21st in July in Rome, in the Cinecittà Studios. But what do we know about this performance? “The live performance will bring together the human and the digital touch creating a dialogue where neither of them will take the lead,” the house said in a press release. “No digital effects can substitute the humanitas. The result will be the expression of the inner values of couture: creativity, imagination and emotion.”

I am very curious to see, what will be the final result, also because the special show has been conceived by creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli, who has worked alongside artist Nick Knight. Therefore the second act of the show designed by Piccioli and Knight is reserved for the Italian capital: a live performance in which the three main values of high fashion have contributed to building the legacy of a brand like Valentino will find expression: creativity, imagination and emotion.

“The event”, the Maison know, “will be in live streaming on Valentino digital channels, and in compliance with the current situation, following all the necessary security measures, some fashion critics, based in Italy, will be invited to the event in Rome “. Since I am a very great fan of Piccioli creativity, is important to me, to report his words” The project arises from an idea, that Pierpaolo Piccioli already had in mind before the pandemic, that merges the human and digital worlds creating a bond that is the legacy of the rebirth period we are experiencing. The limits that we are living need to be transcended through grace and lightness.” Finally, I have to say that I am really excited to admire Valentino autumn/winter 2020 couture collection in a special show, which will have both physical and digital elements to it.
