Yuan Design, a leading name in bespoke luxury interiors, has once again been recognised on the global stage by winning a revered Luxury Lifestyle Awards. In 2024, they secured the title of Best Luxury Modern Residential Interior Design for their latest renovation project, The Cottage, in Selangor, Malaysia.
Founded and directed by Zessie Li, Yuan Design is celebrated for its ability to create interiors that elegantly reflect its clients’ unique lifestyles. This latest accolade recognises the company’s dedication to customised, collaborative design, which transforms spaces into personalised works of art.
The Cottage, a 4,484-square-foot renovation located in the serene neighbourhood of Valencia, Sungai Buloh, was completed in September 2023 after six months of work. Originally built as a residential bungalow and used primarily as a rental home, the property had seen minimal modifications over the years. Yuan Design was tasked with revitalising the outdated space to create a warm, welcoming retreat for clients Emily and Jeff, a well-travelled couple passionate about art and culture.
The design team embraced a farmhouse cottage aesthetic, incorporating authentic hardwood flooring, custom wainscot panelling, and rustic wood-planked ceilings. Large English windows were installed to flood the space with natural light, enhancing the home’s cosy, sophisticated atmosphere. The interior merges rustic charm with modern functionality, with dedicated spaces for Emily’s art collection and Jeff’s nostalgic man cave.
“While we faced some minor challenges in sourcing materials that aligned with the couple’s vision, we successfully navigated these obstacles to create an enduring, luxurious retreat that embodies the couple’s diverse experiences and love for entertaining. We are so grateful to have received a Luxury Lifestyle Awards for another project. We are excited for the world to see our special development”, said Founder and Director, Zessie Li.
Having previously earned recognition through the Asia Pacific Property Awards and SME Platinum Business Award, Yuan Design continues to push the boundaries of luxury interior design with its exceptional work.
