Passion, curiosity, culture, eclecticism, and elegance are just some of the prerogatives of the Architect Angelo Garini, better known with the fascinating nickname of “Architect of Dreams”.
Surrounded since childhood by a family in which (we can say for centuries) great names of Italian culture and architecture stand out. Stimulated to creativity since then, Angelo Garini represents the reference par excellence of style, culture and creativity. That’s the reason why he is defined as “Ambassador of Italian beauty in the world”, a task that he performs excellently in the countless business trips that have characterised his great professional and artistic life.
A great lover of Art in all its parts, he makes no secret of his great love for the Renaissance period and for the great genius Leonardo da Vinci. He spread, together with the “Rules” of elegance, also the idea of the absolute “irregularity” of the creation of styles and works of the great enlightened of the history of Italian Art, making the Renaissance a concept widely applicable to his way of life.
He likes to quote that “The rule for originality and success in every field, have no rules except those of common sense and measure”. To break the rules, one must know them in-depth, and Garini is undoubtedly a profound connoisseur of Italian style.
His activities are numerous and the latest being the creation of creativity incubators in lifestyle, the collaboration with multiple training institutions where he creates successful masterclasses and the completion of new books, in addition to the publications already produced. Let’s get to know him better, during a lovely conversation at Villa Garini Bianchetti (family House on Lake Maggiore), where Architect Garini had organised international events for years.
This is a magical place that contains the essence of beauty. What does it represent for you? This is the place where I feel at home, this is the place of my happy childhood, where I spent here, experiencing every possible creative activity, in complete freedom. It is the place where my love for nature, for flowers, for plants, and my love for water was born.
This garden, this house, is a complex combination of tradition, history and a sense of freedom. I know that you call yourself “proudly Italian” and that you promote our country as much as you can… Yes, I am actively aware that I was born in what we can call the most beautiful country in the world. A great fortune but also a commitment. I carry out a constant activity of promoting the beauty of Italy in all its forms, in all contexts where I can do so. I intend to spread the culture of Italian-style living, which is born from a set of elements that are all important. The attitude to the beauty of landscapes, so different from each other, rich in all its manifestations, creativity expressed in infinite ways; delicious food, taste for conviviality, Art of hospitality….. are part of our education.
Any plans for the future? I don’t want to be full of myself, but, long time ago, I was called “Polymath”, a word that is also used to describe Leonardo da Vinci, which made me very, very proud. I like to use this nickname, which indicates people with many interests and can work in many fields. My projects always follow different directions. I would like to mention the creation of a series of books that deal with topics related to my concept of lifestyle: the history of the table, the Art of hospitality, the design, study of architecture, continuing with the publication of my “artist’s notebooks”.
I also plan new training courses and the creation of exclusive tours that will offer the Italian experience, beyond the usual circuits. Finally, I am working to design some pieces of furniture that mix materials and craftsmanship in an exclusive creative vision of design. But I also have a couple of theatre formats in my drawer…
