Cristina Cipolli: Voluptuous Minimalism

CRISTINA CIPOLLI CELEBRE MAGAZINE WORLD

A London-based designer with a thousand facets that are harmoniously recomposed in a unicum. A person of multiple qualities, Cristina is an architect who graduated with honours from the prestigious University of Florence. For this reason, her creations feature purity of form combined with rigorousness.  It would be rather limiting, however, to define her as a minimalist jeweler. Everything in her production evokes deep feelings, her commitment to ecology, sustainability, her love for exotic travels that are also spiritual excursus into the enchanted world of talismans and their thaumaturgical properties.

A great deal of her inspiration goes back to some stories uttered from the lips of her grandmother who recounted how the Ancient Romans considered diamonds to be the tears of the Gods and splinters of falling stars. Also, how the Ancient Greeks called the diamond adamas, meaning the invincible, the bearer of supernatural powers. Even today many people associate the diamond with a powerful talisman and recognize its power to increase love and make it eternal. Let’s not forget that Cupid’s arrows bore tips of diamonds. These stories have stimulated Cristina’s curiosity, leading her to discover the healing powers of semi-precious stones. During a trip to Bali, Cristina found new perspectives on crystal therapy and this induced her to set off on a path of spiritual refinement, through the practice of meditation and yoga.

This ring from the Striped collection in satin sterling silver and white enamel is set with black onyx with a moonstone and oval black and white onyx cabochon. The design is inspired by the stripe pattern. In some ways, this ring embodies the synthesis of Cristina’s aesthetic research: black and white is in fact a much-loved combination by architects, due to its elegance and sobriety. At the same time, onyx, from the Greek onux, which means fingernail because of its hardness, is a stone that, due to its mysterious and impenetrable colour, recalls hidden mysteries. A legend tells that black onyx originated from Cupid, the mischievous God of love, who cut the nails of Venus with a sharp diamond-tipped arrow while she was sleeping. The nails were then transformed into stone so that no part of her divine body would ever be destroyed and would remain immortal as well as its divinity. On a spiritual level, black onyx drives away negative influences, much like all black stones, and releases a highly healing energy. It is said that Cleopatra herself wore it to protect herself from nefarious events. The collection is declined in different colors and stones, each of which has beneficial properties for the body of the wearer.

Minimalism, architecture and, surprisingly, the presence of the shark, animate the Sharch collection. This rose gold bracelet, paved with ton-sur-ton sapphires, boldly recalls a fishbone. The fusion of red, symbol of love, and the purity of white gives life to pink, emblem of comfort and hope.

A touch of exoticism mixed with a pinch of rebellion is the essence of the Amazon collection, influenced by the theme of tribal adornments.

The focal point of the Snaketric collection is the fusion of anthropomorphic forms, such as the snake, combined with minimal and edgy geometry. The serpent has always been a symbol of eternal renewal and eternity.

The love for life and the strength and energy of colors give hope for a better future: this is the theme of the Rainbow collection. In these troubled times Cristina’s jewels, colored and enriched with therapeutic stones, release positivity and new energy for a rebirth on the horizon. After the storm an arch in the sky will appear to comfort the souls and this is definitely Cristina’s message for us all.
