Tony Favre, the creator of “Il Mondo in Bilico”

Tony Favre, born in 1958 and originally from Val d’Aosta, moved to Genoa with his wife Paola in the early 1980s. Liguria, a wonderful land that welcomed and captivated him with its spectacular Mediterranean colours, became his art’s source and living inspiration.

A renowned international artist-sculptor, Tony Favre has always expressed great talent through his creations and innovative hot pigmentation techniques. This delicate process enhances the three-dimensional structure while highlighting each detail.

The refined finishes become integral to the visual language, enriching the creations with unexpected nuances and adding depth to the sculpted surfaces. This meticulous attention to detail continues with the addition of accents in gold leaf on doors and windows. These precious sparkles capture the light, creating an elegant contrast with the refined look of the wood and offering an extra touch of captivating three-dimensionality. Inner dimensions that live in the artist’s unconscious are returned to us in his works.

Real utopian worlds where isolation becomes protection and verticality becomes a reflection. These fantastic cities witness the presence of man indirectly, only through reflection. Human settlement is evidenced by houses brought to life by windows, streets, and vibrant colours untouched by neglect. Not only is man present, but he is also vividly active in the landscape, respecting it where he settles. Nature does not see its harmonious forms violated; man builds following its energy flow without impacting it.

Houses and streets settle into the roughness, lie down in their forms to be cradled, sinking into a deep sleep. Dreams born from there can generate infinite combinations of fantastic works of art. The artworks of “Il Mondo in Bilico” engage all the senses. The scent of wood, the sound it emits when touched, the sight of various shades, and the tactile sensation of holding a piece of wood are unparalleled sensory riches.

With his magnificent 3D wooden works, the artist reminds us that art is a visual pleasure and an experience that engages all our senses. In an increasingly digital world, distant from the touch and texture of real things, this artist’s work brings us to tangibility, rediscovering the beauty of art to touch, to live by hand. There is nothing more luxurious than such an experience.

Art is a necessity and Tony Favre’s need is to build worlds that can welcome the soul of those seeking hospitality.
