Wellness as Philosophy of Life

Our existence consumed in too much haste does not leave much time for caring for oneself, mind and body. In recent years the “fashion” of wellness centres has spread, allowing a moment of pause for physical and spiritual well-being. In fact, it is a true science to study the extraordinary properties of thermal water, which encompasses a complex universe of wellness in its entirety.

It is an individual’s philosophy to dedicate a few days to changing one’s habits, acquiring a new awareness of one’s needs and body. Nature comes to meet us by fully respecting our needs to improve the quality of life. Water has many benefits on our body, from steam baths to diving in herbal infusions. It is a starting point for a different but deeper approach to our knowledge of ourselves for a psycho-physical balance.

It serves our beauty and our global wellbeing in a therapeutic journey made of natural elements, which purify and promote a cellular renewal process. Usually, this happens in splendid sceneries, whether they are in the mountains or at sea, they welcome us to relieve the tensions accumulated during long working days and give us the luxury of the dolce vita. It is a way of interpreting the concept of external and internal beauty with a beauty that is closely linked to the quality of life of what it demands to keep up with the times and be always new while remaining ourselves. A beauty we can say timeless found with natural products that allow our skin freshness and novelty. To this, we combine pleasure and recreation for an escape of our mind and spirit. Today many places offer thermal springs with excellent therapeutic qualities, just to name a few Saint Vincent, Saint. Pellegrino, Montecatini, Ischia.

Places where mineral waters give off medicinal vapours. Places where we can find sumptuous buildings, hotel facilities, luxurious villas with first-class quality. An example of thermal architecture in Italy are the thermal baths of Salso Maggiore, between Art Nouveau and Deco, with the name of Terme Berzieri, designed by the architect Ugo Giusti and decorated by the painter Galileo Chini. The project dates back to 1912 and was completed in 1923. The charm of the structure is due to the ceramic coverings of the interiors. The chromatic excesses of rare symbolic richness, references to water made on the walls of the internal façade of the establishment, make it all a reminder of elegant worldly life.

These places were created with research and the aim of giving people the beauty of their bodies and escape from the mind, to stop the passage of time and connect a pause between mind and body. Among the favourite places in the world, we find Uunartoq in Greenland, in Turkey Pamukkale and Tuscany with its Saturnia spa.

All the places that invite to the sensory pleasure of the warm water on the skin that regenerates in total relaxation, of unique and pleasant places where it is also possible to find a recreation in a diet cared for and proposed by the dieticians of the various centres. This is to complete all the thermal benefits on our body and for our health.

Very interesting is the latest book by David Clay Large, which reports the popularity enjoyed by spas but also the intrigues that have been in these places with their declines. People frequented these places to find European intellectual network contacts and history also passed through the spas. So over the years, they have characterized themselves in their splendid cities hosting important personalities who have spread the culture of thermal waters but also written pages of history in what is called Kurorte.
