The Dakar is the rally of rallies. Par excellence. But it’s not just that: it’s history, tradition, culture. It is an event that had fascinated since 1977. Thierry Sabine (founder of this legendary race) in 1977 got lost in the Libyan desert during the Abidjan-Nice to be saved in extremis and then remained so fascinated by the scenery seen that he founded what became the Paris-Dakar, now “simply” ‘Dakar’.
The path changes, but the emotion remains the same… During the decade something happened: the path has changed, and even motorcycles and protagonists have followed each other in writing the pages of a book that after years does not stop to be one of the most beautiful that you can browse in the world motorsport scene. In short, things have changed, but the first ones have remained: Thierry Sabine’s dream of bewitching spectators and participants with breathtaking scenarios and the ability to inspire the collective imagination.
Thinking about this, the editors of Motori Di Lusso and celebreMagazine have chosen to bring their readers and their followers in this great adventure. Dakar has more than 300 vehicles competing (more than 130 cars, more than 130 motorcycles, more than 40 trucks and more than 20 quads) and more than 500 competitors (as well as a media following of 54.3 million pages viewed on the official website; 3.6 million followers in total on social channels and 55 million video views) and which, at the beginning of next year, will be staged in the enchanting scenery of the Middle East.
3 January to 15 in the Desert riding the Yamaha with Luca! How? By acting as a media-partner to Luca Marinone, who will ride a Yamaha WR450F and take part in this incredible and fascinating (and trying) challenge that will take place from 3 to 15 January 2021 and that will take us through the Middle Eastern dunes (and behind the scenes of this incredible race) with him. He will give us a taste of all this during the Rally of Andalusia, from 6 to 10 October 2020.
Born on 2 March 1996 in Vigevano (PV), Luca Marinone practised all kinds of sports during his adolescence, including football, volleyball and tennis. Passionate about motors since childhood, he has been practising motocross since he was 14 years old. After years of training, he decided to crown his dream of tackling all rally-raids: the Dakar. Strong of a great experience gained, always riding Yamaha, in the Italian Motorally Championship. Luca’s goal for the Dakar 2021 is to finish it in the Malle Moto category, to close in 2022 among the top 30, also thanks to joint training with Manuel Lucchese.
Go Head Luca!… After years of collaboration with Maggi Moto, the official Yamaha dealer who, through Yamaha Motor Italia, supplies the bike, Luca Marinone has decided to take part in this rally.
