The Dream Realized by the Undisputed “Grande Maestro” Antonio Murgia

Antonio Murgia

The Famous Maestro Antonio Murgia, known throughout the World for his Art directly inspired by Pop, certainly did not have an easy start of his career even though he had a clear idea of the result to be achieved. Born in Sardinia, a wild land and unspoilt nature, the fifties based on agriculture and pastoralism but was far from the cities and towns, where at that time germinated the most important artistic movements.

The lack of work forced his parents to emigrate and move to the industrious and productive Piedmont, exactly in Biella, and it was in those years that the artist from an early age showed an innate passion for pencils and pastels, so as to decide despite the opinion of his parents to enroll in the Art School of Biella, graduating as the best student.

He began to build his artistic career in this way, moved to Milan and enrolled at the Academy of Fine Arts in Brera. But something breaks in academic learning; perhaps not mature for the times, perhaps his idea of Art does not coincide with the Art of the time. So he decided to close this experience prematurely, to close it also with art and to find a common job.

Antonio MurgiaBut after a few years the call of art echoes overwhelmingly in him, but will use a means other than the one that had enchanted him. He equipped himself with a camera and started shooting short films, successfully participating in various competitions, including the first edition of the Turin Film Festival, in which he competed with a film that lasted over 2 hours.

He’s so good and professional, he’s hired as a television director. For a few years this became his expressive form, but in love with painting, he started painting again. His works represent flowers and fruits with enlarged, extra-large shapes.

Murgia is thus facing a real artistic and personal rebirth. His works recall and follow what is the philosophy of Pop Art, in a more typically Italian vision of the artistic current. Some gallery owners propose it in all the art fairs in Italy; in China it exhibits in Shanghai and Beijing, and also in Miami.

Antonio MurgiaHis paintings are also distributed in the form of posters and limited edition multiples. Important companies that produce posters ask him for worldwide exclusives for the realization of his subjects that printed on paper or canvas will be distributed worldwide. Television broadcasters of the calibre of Mediaset and Rai use his works as backgrounds for broadcasts, film sets and advertising productions.

Antonio MurgiaThe success of this great artist is the originality with which the characters of the comics are recontextualized in normal everyday contexts, popular myths demythologized with irony by “Mickey, Goofy, Duck or Spiderman”, as well as situations of domination or power are painted and shown with sarcasm to popular disbelief, in the series “Ironical”.

While in “Pretaporter” the superdive Daisy Duck and Marilyn compete in imaginary fashion shows of the biggest names in international fashion. Series of paintings that were born in the early 2000s. Starting in 2014, a new expressive phase begins, devoted to a Pop that is less ironic but more sunny, much more daring from a chromatic point of view. The expressive subject focuses on the female faces, while the dynamism of the brushstrokes takes on summits of boldness, freedom and ingenuity previously unknown to him.

The “OROS Project” series is born, a paradigm of a happy encounter between ORdine and chaOS, clash and marriage between opposites of any kind. And here the success regains strength, and reaches new goals, both physical, geographical and mental. The Antonio Murgia ART, represent for Art Funds and Investors, Art Collectors and Art Gallery Worldwide, an Important and Valid Art Investment for the present and even more for the future, typical of those Artists like him that will surely leave their name in the Art world for ever.
