Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch “New Moon”

The Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch “New Moon”, a new generation of the legendary Swiss chronograph with a new style and a new movement, makes its public debut.

The Swiss watchmaker (after having recently presented the Silver Snoopy Award 50th Anniversary) has unveiled the new generation of the Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch, the so-called “New Moon“, the Swiss brand’s legendary timepiece with a new style and a new movement, which remains antimagnetic and Master Chronometer-certified.

SMALL CHANGES ON THE AESTHETIC FRONT – Featuring a style inspired by the fourth generation Moonwatch (commonly referred to as ST 105.012 and worn by the Apollo 11 astronauts on the Moon in 1969), the Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch “New Moon” features an asymmetrical case, a “stepped” dial, a double bevelled case back, the famous dot over 90 (DON) and the diagonal dot at 70 on the anodized aluminium bezel ring.

MOVEMENT 3861 – The most significant update that the Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch “New Moon” offers is undoubtedly the calibre 3861 Co-Axial Master Chronometer. The new movement ensures that the Moonwatch will now be unaffected by even the most extreme magnetic fields of up to 15,000 gauss. Besides, Omega guarantees Master Chronometer certification: the highest standard of precision in the Swiss watchmaking industry.

CHANGES TO THE STRAP – There are also changes to the strap: the integrated, fully brushed bracelet of the Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch “New Moon” features a design with five arched links per row. Like Moonwatch styles of the past, it includes a new buckle with a polished Omega logo on a satin-finished cover. The dial reveals all the attention paid to detail: based on the frequency of the calibre 3861, the minute track is now divided into 3 divisions, unlike the 5 divisions of previous models. Eight special choices are available, including versions in stainless steel, 18-carat Sedna gold or 18-carat Canopus gold. All versions come with a full 5-year warranty.

THEY SAY ABOUT IT – “When updating a watch as sacred as the Speedmaster Moonwatch,” says Raynald Aeschlimann, President and CEO of Omega, “every detail must be true to its original spirit. This chronograph is recognized around the world, so we approached its design with the most sincere respect, taking its movement to the next level.
