Look at it when stationary, and you are enchanted; see it in motion and exhilarated. Its presence, its power under typical Maserati lines. Its design reflects the evolved traits of tradition, a modern and refined stylistic research. The design is the work of the Maserati Style Centre with a team of passionate designers. The collected front end with the typical grille reinterpreted in a modern key, slim headlights and the windscreen that rests on the bonnet.

The doors have a dramatic butterfly-wing opening; the aerodynamic flows shape the side with the lower part unloaded to design the miniskirt. The rear area shows off the “Neptune” engine set under the rear window, on which its hot air outlets form a stylised trident. The great exhausts on the rear bumper, the slender horizontal lights and the lower area with the air extractor drain the flows coming from the underbody.

The trident sports car has a refined carbon fibre chassis. The elegant and sober interior styling dashboard is located in the instrumentation, consisting of two 10″ screens. The sloping central tunnel houses the driving selector, which offers five driving modes, and the sporty, refined seats are upholstered in precious materials. Accessibility is very comfortable. The MC20 rests on its wheels, ready to unleash the 630 hp of its 3-litre V6 Biturbo engine with 730 Nm of torque, a top speed of 325 km/h and 0-100 in 2.9 seconds. 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

The car’s engineering development made extensive use of virtual reality. The Innovation Lab in Via Emilia Ovest used the most advanced technologies. For the dynamic tests on the MC20, the DIM dynamic simulator, which stands for Driver in Motion, was used. The test drivers were able to set the car’s behaviour in close contact with the engineers. Working in synergy to optimise performance allowed the development time to be shortened considerably by correcting any behavioural defects.

The simulations were developed in real-life conditions, with temperatures, weather, road conditions and physical stresses on the cars faithful to classic road-use tests. These technologies will be used for the development of future models in the Maserati range. Concerning the future, Maserati has already announced an electric version of the MC20.

The new supercar’s success will be sealed by numerous international awards, including the Red Dot Awards 2021, Super Sports Car of The Year, Most Beautiful Supercar of the Year 2020 and China Performance Car of the Year 2021. Klaus Busse, Maserati’s Head of Design, declared on the occasion of the Red Dot Award: “We are honoured to receive this prestigious award which recognises the work of an entire team dedicated to this unique project”.

We find in MC20 the Maserati history, great passion of those who worked on the project, the pure essence and the desire to create a supercar that raises the value of the brand even higher. A prestigious protagonist of the Emilian Motor Valley, a precious gem that will be appreciated worldwide.
