NetJets signed to buy 20 Aerion AS2 Jets

NetJets and its subsidiary FlightSafety International have signed a memorandum of understanding to purchase 20 Aerion AS2 supersonic business jets.

The Aerion AS2 (the first supersonic business jet destined to arrive on the market) has already been discussed at length. But let’s get back to it today as NetJets and its sister company FlightSafety International have signed a memorandum of understanding for the purchase of 20 aircraft.

Shortening distances in Flight A $10 billion order for an aircraft capable of flying at Mach 1.4 is set to hit the market by the end of this decade. Under the agreement, Netjets would become the exclusive business jet operator for Aerion Connect, Aerion‘s vision for a global mobility ecosystem that enables seamless point-to-point travel across multiple transportation modes in urban and rural settings.

In addition, Aerion will work with FlightSafety International to develop a supersonic flight training academy for civil, commercial and military supersonic aircraft. The academy, branded Aerion, will leverage FSI’s training expertise to serve as a centre of excellence for supersonic flight training and education.

See you in  2023 Aerion plans to start plans for production of the AS2 at Aerion Park in Melbourne, Florida. A programme that is expected to be put on track for 2023 after completing wind tunnel validation tests. Meanwhile, Berkshire Hathaway’s annual report sees its purchase obligations rising from $6bn in 2024/25 to nearly $20bn after 2025, citing increases in NetJets in addition to its energy and rail groups.
