Hennessey Venom F5: 1,842 hp at over 500 km/h

The US manufacturer has unveiled the production variant of the Hennessey Venom F5, an exclusive hypercar that will be built in just 24 units. Previewed at SEMA 2017 (we also saw it live in Geneva in 2018), the Hennessey Venom F5 is now revealed in its final form, i.e. the one that will definitely go into production.

Up to 500 KM/H – The US manufacturer’s hypercar will be very exclusive (only 24 examples), as well as highly performance-oriented: the top speed of the Hennessey Venom F5 is in fact around 500 km/h (perhaps even higher).

This is all thanks to an engine that will be a real power monster: the 6.6-litre twin-turbo V8 (named “FURY” – weighing just 289 kg – and able to rev at 8,500 rpm, as well as being flanked in operation by a seven-speed semi-automatic gearbox) in fact develops 1,842 hp and 1,617 Nm, which are transmitted to the rear wheels. The result is 0-100 km/h in less than three seconds and 0-200 km/h in 4.7 seconds, thanks also to a power-to-weight ratio of 1,289 bhp per tonne (the American car tips the scales at 1,360 kg dry).

The carbon fibre monocoque chassis (weighing just 86 kg) also contributes to these results: this material is also used for the body panels. The interior is minimalist and uncluttered (similar to the Aston Martin Valkyrie), closely resembling that of an Endurance prototype. The cabin shows off the futuristic steering wheel, digital displays and nothing more than what is essential for driving.

There are five driving modes on the Hennessey Venom F5: Sport, Track, Drag, Wet and F5. F5 gives you the full power of the car. Each setting affects the power, traction and braking of the incredible American hypercar. The forged aluminium wheels are 19″ in the front (265/35) and 20″ in the rear (345/50) and are fitted with Michelin Pilot Cup Sport 2 tyres. Behind these are carbon-ceramic brakes with 6-piston callipers in the front and 4-piston callipers in the rear.

The powertrain uses a newly developed cast-iron block, aluminium cylinder heads, dry-sump lubrication and an exhaust system made of stainless steel alloy and Cerakote-treated Inconel (the same material used inside gun barrels to protect them from heat, which is also used here to cover the engine compartment and rear deck).

Also available for the Hennessey Venom F5 is a Track Pack, featuring a larger front splitter and prominent rear wing. The price? Starting at $2.1 million. Deliveries will start next year.
