Bentley Continental GT Speed: The British Excellence in 659 Hp

The British carmaker has dropped the veil on the new Bentley Continental GT Speed, a hardcore variant of its sleek sports car with a 659hp W12 engine.

Crewe-based Bentley has unveiled the new Bentley Continental GT Speed, a high-performance variant of the sleek British sports car with four-wheel steering, revised suspension and a more powerful engine, as well as a host of aesthetic firsts.

The twin-turbocharged W12 increases in performance – The heart and soul of the new Bentley Continental GT Speed is a 6.0-litre twin-turbocharged W12 that now develops 659 bhp and 900 Nm of torque, which – thanks also to an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission updated for quicker gear changes – translates into a 0-100 km/h time of 3.6 seconds and a top speed of 335 km/h.

The suspension and steering (the latter both integral and electronic) have also been extensively re-calibrated, while the Bentley Dynamic Ride function (along with a limited-slip differential) reduces vehicle roll thanks to a 48-volt electronic system.

Personal Aesthetics – In terms of aesthetic appeal, the sleek British sports car sports sportier styling than the ‘standard version‘. The front grille, air intakes and side skirts have been given a Dark Tint finish, while the Chrome ‘Speed’ badge appears on many of the car’s components, which now feature 22″ wheels.

The cabin is also much sportier, with a host of carbon-fibre elements, two-tone leather and Alcantara upholstery and new dark aluminium inserts (the latter is optional). There are 15 interior colours available (11 secondary colours). It will be on the market by the end of the year.
