Borgo Scopeto Relais: Pure Charm and Taste “Made in Chianti”

Borgo Scopeto Relais offers a breathtaking view of Siena, a jewel of a city renowned throughout the world for its wealth of art and traditions. A corner of paradise with a view of the Mangia Tower and the Cathedral Bell Tower, together with the rolling Chianti hills, frame a landscape of luminous beauty. Borgo Scopeto Relais, the elegant 4-star-luxury wine resort located in the heart of the Chianti Classico region, reopens on 7 May and offers many new features for an unforgettable experience in the true essence of Tuscany.

A significant Tuscan estate dating back to the 14th century, Borgo Scopeto Relais is located in the heart of the Chianti Classico region; just a few minutes drive from Siena. Immersed in a landscape of rare beauty and pervaded by the sensual scent of nature and vineyards, the estate covers about 500 hectares, of which 373 are woodland, 70 are vineyards, and 50 are dotted with olive trees. The owner of this marvellous charming residence is the Gnudi Angelini family, who bought it in 1997 and produced elegant appellation wines and an excellent Evo oil.

To guarantee the high standards of hospitality that have always distinguished the Borgo, the owners have opted for a soft restart, initially only at weekends, before resuming the entire operation from 28 May. The staff is completing the final preparations to welcome guests in total safety, in full compliance with anti-Covid regulations. Thanks to its strategic location, Borgo Scopeto is also the ideal destination for those who love to combine nature and culture. Discovering important art cities such as Siena (just 10 km away) or Florence and the small villages, parish churches, and convents that dot the Chianti hills.

And as in the essence of this place, with its ancient medieval charm, the 2021 season at Borgo Scopeto Relais will be characterised by nature and wellbeing. Immersed in the enchanting Sienese countryside, the resort is the ideal answer for those wishing to enjoy a regenerating stay in the peace that this corner of Tuscany offers its visitors.

The rooms have been renovated with a slight restyling with greater attention to detail for an even more refined and elegant atmosphere in harmony with the existing elements.

The Borgo is the result of an impressive conservative restoration project that lasted over ten years. Transforming the place into an elegant and refined diffused hotel with 55 rooms of various types, spa and wellness centre, park with two swimming pools and two tennis courts, two large meeting rooms and a fitness room, to satisfy every need. The charm of Borgo Scopeto Relais lies in the perfect balance between luxury and nature, surrounded as it is by woods, vineyards and olive groves and by the beautiful colours of the new lavender and helichrysum fields.

Luxury and nature are also the basis for the products in the home cosmetics line (already based on grapes, olive and cypress, now also based on essential oils of lavender and helichrysum). Nature and luxury are also the basis for the organic garden products for the production of zero-km vegetables and the presence of an apiary for the production of honey and royal jelly for both food and cosmetics. In this paradise of biodiversity, the holiday becomes a real sensory journey through the flavours and aromas of the best Tuscan food and wine tradition.

Executive Chef Pietro Fortunati has created two new menus dedicated to the territory that interpret local products and Tuscan excellence with a modern twist, revisiting traditional dishes with a contemporary flavour:

  • At lunchtime, the Borgo Bistrot offers an intelligent proposal that combines taste and lightness with delicious burgers. Tasty focaccias with local cold cuts and cheeses, fresh seasonal salads dressed with the Borgo’s prized extra virgin olive oil, delicious crostoni, and great summer classics that are never taken for granted.
  • At dinner, La Tinaia Restaurant offers fine dining and creative cuisine, combining research and tradition: from the inevitable typical local dishes, such as Pici al vino and Cinta Senese, to local fish dishes, such as cod, revisited with innovative combinations.

And for wine lovers, the possibility of tasting the labels produced by the Borgo Scopeto cellar, such as Chianti Classico or Borgonero, Supertuscans of great personality and elegance, and the prestigious Brunello di Montalcino by Altesino and Caparzo.  Taking a holiday at Borgo Scopeto means living an unforgettable experience in a timeless dimension, in a refined and precious residence surrounded by unspoilt countryside, where the only voice is nature, the nature of a Tuscany waiting to be discovered.
